Am 27. Oktober spielt Raimondas Sviackevicius in der Lituannischen Philharmonikkonzerthalle während des größten zeitgenössischen Musikfestivals ’Gaida 2007’ die Erstaufführung des Stückes ‘Promise’ des bekannten Komponisten Feliksas Bajoras aus Lituannien. ‘Promise’ ist ein „concerto“ und das erste für Akkordeon und Symphonieorchester. Begleitet wird Raimondas Sviackevicius vom Lituanischen National-Symphonieorchester, unter der Leitung des Dirigenten Robertas Servenikas.
‘Auch 2006 präsentierte Raimondas eine Erstaufführung des Konzertes für Akkordeon und Kammerorchester ‘Breakthrough’ von Zibuokle Martinaityte.
Eines vollen Hauses erfreute sich das Dargaville Museum Lighthouse Function Zentrum am 21. Oktober zur Eröffnung der neuen Sektion: Musikraum/Akkordeon.
Die feierliche Eröffnung wurde vom Bürgermeister von Dargaville, Mayor, Neil Tiller, dem Museumsdirektor Don Ellito und dem CIA Präsident Kevin Friedrich vorgenommen, welcher auch die offiezielle Eröffnungszeremonie (durchschneiden des Bandes) vornahm.
Glückwünschbriefe von Akkordeon Weltweit und der New Zealand Accordion Association (NZAA) wurden bei diesem Anlass den anwesenden Gästen vorgelesen.
Im Anschluss hatten die Besucher die Möglichkeit die 90 Stück umfassende Akkordeon Kolletkion „Accordion Gems“ von Kevin Friedrich zu bewundern. Neben den Instrumenten gibt es ca. 300 Bilder und Original-Akkordeonmanuskripte zu besichtigen.
Zur Eröffung gab es außerdem ein Konzert mit dem Starlight Duo, aus Auckland (Maurice Jones und Lionel Reekie), dem Dargaville Tamburica Orchester, der Dargaville West Highland Pipe Band, dem Kauri Chorus Choir und dem Akkordeonisten Kevin Friedrich der auf einigen der antiken Akkordeons ein Programm 'Old Accordion's Tales' vortrug um dann in eine open jam session einzusteigen.
Die “Accordion Gems” Kollektion zählt aktuell zu der umfangreichsten Ausstellung in der südlichen Hemisphäre.

Der Trophée Mondiale findet vom 5-9 November zum erstenmal in Samara/Russland statt. Der CMA Präsident Frédéric Deschamps ist beieindruckt von dem aussergewöhnlichen Effort des lokalen Organisators Sergeï Voitenko, der mittel Alla Kaz, während des 2006 CMA Internationalem Kongress in Kragujevac (Serbien),die Einladung durch Durchführung des 2007 CMA aussprach. Samara ist die sechsgrößte Stadt in Russland und liegt an der Wolga im südöstlichen Teil Russlands.
35 Teilnehmer bewerben sich in 4 Kategorie und kommen aus Russland, Frankreich, Portugal, Serbien, Kroatien und Neuseeland und wird dadurch zu einer weltweiten Veranstaltung.
Die Pläne für die 2008 Veranstaltung sind bereits voll im Gange und werden in Bosnien Herzegovina, vom CMA Delegate Zoran Rakic organisiert.

Bojan Volcevski beim ‘Interfest’ Klassik-Musik-Festival, Bitola – Mazedonien

Das ’Interfest’ ist ein international klassisches Musikereignis, das jährlich im Oktober stattfindet und vom Kulturministerium der Republik Mazedonien organisiert wird. Im Program des diesjährigen, 16. Festivals in Bitola gab es Auftritte von angesehen Künstlern aus Mazedonien und anderen europäischen Kulturzentren.
Der Akkordeonist Bojan Volcevski, Schüler der Professorin Zorica Karakutovska auf der Musikfakultät Skopje spielte zusammen mit Musikern aus Mazedonien und der Türkei ein Konzert unter dem Titel “Abend mit jungen Musikern” in der Hall of Bitola Museum shalle und Gallerie.
Rauschender Beifall und hohes Lob von Medien-Musikkritikern für Bojan’s Vorstellung zeigt den großen Stellenwerte des Akkordeons in Mazedonien.
Leading Scottish accordionist Gordon Pattullo has just released his first DVD, ‘Gordon Pattullo, His Accordion and Friends’.
Introduced by Bill Torrance and filmed largely at the Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus, and the Wellbank Hall, Dundee. The DVD also includes scenery from the east and west coasts of Scotland.
The guest musicians include accordionists Freeland Barbour and Tom Alexander, fiddle player Ian Powrie, and pianist John Crawford.
The 16 tracks including ‘Bonnie Strathmore’, ‘Hornpipe Selection’, ‘The Cuckoo Waltz’, ‘Tribute to Will Starr’, ‘Lament for Jack Miller’, ‘The Flying Scotsman’, ‘The Dark Island’, ‘The Four String Polka’, ‘Waltzes’, ‘Fraser's Favourites’, ‘Tribute to Sir Jimmy Shand’, ‘The Orange Blossom Special’, ‘Kiwi Pipers Medley’, ‘The Sands of Kuwait’, ‘Scotch 'n' Irish’, and ‘The Furrows End’.
Patricia Dericoux, Professor at the Conservatory of Sainte Geneviève des bois, organised a master class, October 12th to 14th, taken by Domi Emorine and Roman Jbanov. The sessions were held at the held a master class at the Centre Artistique R. NOUREEV, situated south of Paris, and was attended by all the students of Professor Dericoux.
All present enjoyed the tuition and also the good humour of Domi and Roman, and gained much from the weekend. On the Sunday morning, the duet Domi and Emorine dazzled all present with a concert, attended by an audience that included accordion star players Marcel Azzola, Armand Lassagne, Yves Fontaine and Claude Cavagnolo.
It is with great pleasure that at the meeting of the BCA Governing Council on Friday 19th October 2007, the decision to hold the second Francis Wright Memorial Scholarship was announced.
This is to be held on September 14th 2008 and is open to all successful candidates holding BCA Grade 6 and upwards since 2002 and under the age of 25. The winner will receive a financial award to further their studies as well as a number of concert performances throughout the UK in the following 12 months.

Stockport Accordion Orchestra Concert, Ellesmere Port – UK
On Tuesday October 30th the Stockport Accordion Orchestra, Musical Director Brian Jenkins, are the guests at Chester Accordion Club, which meets at The Castrol Club, Chester Road, Whitby, Ellesmere Port, 7.30 pm.
The Café Accordion Orchestra, directed by accordionist Dan Newton, perform at the The Times Bar and Cafe, 201 E. Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 27th, 9.30pm.
The Orchestra performs an eclectic mix of vintage Swing, Latin, American, and French Café music, evoking the style of the Bal Musette orchestras, popular in Parisian cafés and bistros in the 1920s through 1950s.
The 58th All Scotland Accordion & Fiddle Championships take place in Perth, Scotland, on October 27th. The festival begins with a ceilidh at The Queen’s Hotel on Friday October 26th, from 8pm.
The Saturday evening variety concert, already a sell out, features accordionists Domi Emorine & Roman Jbanov – the Paris-Moscow Duo, the Bill Wilkie Accordion Orchestra, soloist Robert Black, and the James Coutts Scottish Dance Band.
The All Scotland Accordion Championships, organised since 1949 by Bill Wilkie MBE, is probably the longest running music festival anywhere in the world organised continuously by the same person.
November marks the start of the new NAO festival season in the United Kingdom with a series of 9 regional festivals being held around the country until the end of February 2008 - culminating in the NAO UK Championships 2008. These will be held next year at the Metropole Hotel and on the Famous North Pier in Blackpool 25th -27th April.
The first two festivals of the season take place in November the Southern Area held in Wimborne, Dorset on the 3rd organised by Bob Downer, and the North West in Fleetwood, Lancashire on the 25th organised by NAO Past Chairperson, Gina Brannelli.
Norwegian accordionist Frode Haltli is in concert at the Getty Center, Harold M. Williams Auditorium, Los Angeles, on November 9th, 7.30pm. Admission is free.
Frode Haltli (b. 1975) studied the accordion at The Norwegian State Academy of Music and The Royal Danish Concervatory of Music. He ended his studies in 2000 and currently lives near Oslo, Norway.
“Frode Haltli is a brilliant interpreter of both contemporary and traditional Scandinavian music. His astonishing virtuosity has inspired many composers, and his kaleidoscopic improvisations that draw upon the Norwegian folk tradition explore the furthest sonic regions of the instrument” - BBC Music Magazine.
