In gerade mal 4 Wochen findet das erste Roland International V-Accordion Festival statt. Roland, die einzige Firma der Welt die nur digitale Akkordeons (die berühmten V-Accordions) produziert, organisiert den ersten internationalen Wettbewerb für Spieler mit digitalem Akkordeon.
“Das Hauptziel des Wettbewerbs”, erklärt Mr. Luigi Bruit, Roland Europe R&D Direktor, “ist nicht nur um die besten Akkordeonisten der Welt zu entdecken, sondern auch um das Potential der digitalen Akkordeonmusik zu zeigen”.
Der Roland Wettbewerb ist für Akkordeonisten aller Levels – von Hobby- bis hin zu professionellen Spielern offen. Es gibt zwei verschiedene Kategorien: Solisten und Ensembles (maximal 4 Elemente). Der Wettbewerb besteht aus nationalen Qualifikationsrunden und einem internationale Finale.
Akkordeonisten aus vielen europäischen und nichteuropäischen Ländern haben sich bereits zum Wettbewerb, einschließlich Spielern von Benelux, Tschechien, Frankreich, Deutschland, Italien, Norwegen, Portugal, Spanien, Großbritannien, Australien, Brazilien, Kanada und Neuseeland, angemeldet.
Das erste Land, indem die nationalen Qualifikationsrunden stattfinden werden, ist Italien.
Die Qualifikationsrunden werden am 19. August in Aosta, zur gleichen Zeit wie “Festa delle Fisarmoniche” (Akkordeonfestival) ausgetragen. Die nächsten Qualifikationsrunden werden in der Tschechischen Republik, Norwegen, den Niederlanden und Großbritannien stattfinden und danach in Frankreich wowie iberischen Ländern im Oktober (für einen detailierten Zeitplan besuchen Sie bitte www.v-accordionfestival.com).
Jeder der nationalen Gewinner wird dann im internationalen Finale, welches in Pesaro, Italien, am 9. und 10. November stattfindet, teilnehmen. Der prestigevolle Austragungsort wird das Gioacchino Rossini Konservatorium sein. Die internationalen Gewinner bekommen von Roland ein Preisgeld in Höhe von 5000€.
'The Next Tango' ist eine DVD, welche die Geschichte von Astor Piazolla, dem Erfinders des "Tango Neuvo" erzählt. In diesem Film spielt Piazolla - in seinem Land als "El Gran Astor" bekannt - 3 Stücke mit dem Kölner Radio Orchester und spricht mit Andres Salcedo über sein Leben, seine Karriere und das unwiderstehliche Phänomen des Tangos.
Mit seinem “New Tango” brachte Astor Piazzolla, Komponist und Bandoneon Virtuoso Spieler, die argentinische Leidenschaft des Tanzens, der Gunst und der sexuellen Power in die Konzerthallen. Das DVD hat eine Dauer von 1 Stunde und 28 Minuten.
Der Folefest Akkordeonwettbewerb und Festival findet in Castelo Branco vom 21. bis zum 23. Februar 2008 statt. Die Akkordeonwettbewerbe werden am Samstag, den 23. Februar, stattfinden und es wird Teststücke für verschiedene Kategorien geben:
Kategorie A – bis 9 Jahre alt am 31. Dezember 2007; Teststück ‘Romance’, von J.Draeger
Kategorie B – 10 bis 12 Jahre alt am 31. Dezember 2007; Teststück ‘Marsch’ und die ‘Kindersuite no1’, von Albin Repnikov
Kategorie C – 13 bis 15 Jahre alt am 31. Dezember 2007; Teststück 3. und 4. Bewegung der ‘Sonatine no1’, von Ernst Günter Rosenetzki
Kategorie D - 16 bis 18 Jahre alt am 31. Dezember 2007; Teststück – ‘Asia Flashes’ (3. Bewegung und von Suite B.B.), von Franck Angelis
Kategorie E - 19 Jahre alt oder älter am 31. Dezember 2007; Teststück ‘Ballata’ (1. Bewegung und die Sonate), von Bogdan Precz
In der Kammermusik Kategorie (F): Ein Programm, welches mindestens ein Originalstück für das Ensemble enthält – Dauer: etwa 15 Minuten.
Auf der Millennium Stage im bekannten Kennedy Center für angewandte Kunst, wird es eine Serie an Akkordeonkonzerten während des CIA Coupe Mondiale Weltakkordeonwettbewerbs geben. Das “Performing Arts for Everyone” auf der Millennium Stage wurde entworfen, um das Kennedy Center vorzustellen und um Künstlern und Besuchern 365 Tage im Jahr die Möglicheit zu geben kostenfrei Musik zu machen und zu hören.

17. August - Accordeonova (Dänemark), MD - Peter Anders, und the Beijing Children's Palace Accordion Orchestra (China)
August 18th - Six first place winners of the various categories within the Coupe Mondiale will play part of their \winning program in Coupe Mondiale, Junior Coupe Mondiale, Piano Accordion Entertainment, Virtuoso Entertainment, Junior Virtuoso Entertainment and Accordion Ensemble.
Weitere Highlights des Coupe Mondiale sind nächtliche Konzerte, die Premiere des World Accordion Orchesters unter der Leitung von Joan Cochran Sommers und ein Massenchor an Akkordeonisten, welcher vom akkordeonspielenden Armee Colonell geleitet wird, werden vor dem US Capitol performen.
Ebenfalls wird Freitagnacht der 60. Geburtstag der Coupe Mondiale Bankett Gala stattfinden. Die US Army und die US Air Force Bands – mit jeweils Akkordeonisten inkorporiert.
The Coupe Mondiale, which takes place in a different country every year, is run under the auspices of the Confederation Interntionales des Accordeonistes. It is being sponsored in the US by through the joint efforts of the AAA (American Accordionists' Association) and the ATG (Accordionists and Teachers Guild). Ken Kunec’s workshop ‘Accordions Gone Wild! Getting Creative With Your Music’ was a great way to spend part of a sunny July afternoon. In Ken’s words: “Most of us became accordion players by strict adherence to a framework of music that we were taught.
We learned to play somebody else’s arrangement of music, usually with wondrous precision and we graduated through increasingly more difficult compositions. Some of us learned to improvise somewhat around the framework and that represents our ‘creativity.’
While that is commendable and often very entertaining, this workshop challenges you to get away from those frameworks and become your own arranger. Be a rebel!”
Ken has prepared a series of short videos, along with some written materials, and these will be posted to the WMAS Web. After the workshop music was distributed for a WMAS Massed Band. In a couple of months we will be practicing for the December 16th holiday concert, and later for other concerts.
WMAS will not be meeting in August. Instead, everyone is encouraged to attend the Coupe Mondiale, August 13th to 19th.
On September 16th WMAS will be have Mary Tokarski (picture left) as guest. Mary is a wonderful musician and teacher, so mark your calendars now and be sure not to miss this meeting!
The première of the new commercial for Heineken Extra Cold took place on Monday 23rd. Music for this advertisement is played and composed by concert accordionist Nihad Hrustanbegovic and is called: 'World Promenade'. The clip is now to be seen on all Dutch public and commercial television. Nihad wrote the ‘World Promenade’ in February 2007 and it is the first part (also the introduction) of the ‘Stork Suite’. This Suite is recorded on his first solo CD: ‘The best of Concert Accordion’.
Nihad performed on March 28th as a soloist in the Dutch TV program, 'De wereld draait door' of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. This performance is the number 1 of the show's Top 11 since the end of May as the best artiste of last season.
Nihad Hrustanbegovic will be performing from upcoming September on several Dutch music concert stages.
Konzert-Tournee in die Dolomiten – ein grandioser Erfolg - Deutschland

Beinahe auf den Tag genau nach 11 Jahren reiste am 14.7.2007 das Erste Kölner Akkordeon-Orchester wieder zu einer Konzerttournee nach Südtirol. Es war bereits die 7. Tournee des Ensembles in die Dolomiten und konzertierte vor begeistertem Publikum in den Spielorten, Pedraces, Wolkenstein, San Cassian, St. Vigil und Corvara.
Außergewöhnlich zu erleben, wie begeisterungsfähig das südländische Publikum ist. Wer im Saal kein Platz bekam, lauschte den Darbietungen bis zu 90 Minuten im stehen. Den größten Applaus gaben die insgesamt 2500 Besucher bei Titeln wie, Amadeus goes pop, On the sunny side of the street, Up where we belong, My way und Abba-Greatest, alles Bearbeitungen von Matthias Hennecke. Da neben den schönen Konzerten auch noch der Wettergott ein einsehen hatte und 7 Tage wolkenfreier Himmel bescherte, gab es genügend Möglichkeiten die Berge zu erklimmen. Auf eine mögliche 8.Tour in 2 Jahren freuen sich die Spieler schon jetzt.
The Alnwick International Music Festival 2007 takes place from August 4th to 11th, presenting musicians, singers and dance teams from many countries. Local accordionist Robert Whitehead (picture right), the only Englishman to become an All Scotland Champion, is one of the guest artistes.
Also appearing are BorderBox, a local youth ensemble that includes mainly accordion and fiddle players. There are dance teams – most of which feature accordion accompaniment - from Greece, Italy, Latvia, Mauritius, Slovenia, Poland and Turkey.
A new advanced level accordion course, open to musicians, conductors and composers, run by Anne Landa takes place at the Scuola Soto Mesa, near the centre of Madrid. The course begins this summer, and offers study of Baroque, classical and contemporary repertoire.
Anne Landa is both a Professor of Accordion and a specialist in the Alexander Technique.
The Sidmouth Folk Week takes place from August 3rd to 10th, involving over a hundred bands, dance teams, duos and solo performers.

International Accordion Festival, Rezekne – Latvia
The 5th Fisa…armonie International Competition takes place in Trieste from September 28th to 30th. This event has several age categories, open to solo players, concert performers, chamber groups and accordion orchestras. The final festival concert will be broadcast live on radio or television.
