Friedrich Lips beendete vor kurzem seinen erfolgreichen Europabesuch. Nach seinem „Lips Konzert“ E.Podgaits mit dem Beethoven Symphonie Orchester, dirigiert von Roman Kofman in Bonn gab es in Tilburg/Holland eine Masterklasse und ein Konzert im Konservatorium.
Darauf folgten 2 Solo-Recitals in Mulhouse und Strasbourg/Frankeich, die von Gabried und Michel Veit organisiert wurden.
Das Friedrich Lips’ Konzert hat im Programm Werke von: L. Boellmann, S. Gubaidulina, A. Khatchaturian, E. Derbenko, F. Schubert, G. Gershwin, A. Piazzolla, J. Strauss und anderen…
Im Juli wird Lips Oesterreich besuchen, wo er in Imst eine Masterklasse haelt (Anmeldungen sind noch moeglich!) sowie in Graz ein Recital gibt.

Die neue CD "NDR SESSION Projekt" von Jon Hammond ' charakterisiert den warmen Ton seines Akkordeons Excelsior AC/R mit Tonkammer und der Hammond Orgel. Das präsentierte Programm sind Jazz Standards und einige Originalstücke von Jon, die während seiner letzten Reise in Deutschland aufgenommen wurden.

Der „Cirque du Soleil” – ein internationaler Zirkus, der 1984 in Montreal gegruendet wurde, sucht professionelle Musiker.
"Cirque du Soleil" hat sowohl fixe als auch lokale Künstler in weiten Teilen der Welt als Mitarbeiter. Gegründet wurde der Zirkus von dem Akkordeonspieler Guy Laliberté und einer kleinen Gruppe von Straßenkünstlern - Jongleuren, Seiltänzern und Pantomimeartisten. Cirque du Soleil war ein neues Konzept von Zirkusunterhaltung, ohne Tieren, aber mit einer energievollen Choreographie in Verbindung mit Gymnastik, Tanz und Clowns, mit musikalischem Hintergrund kennzeichnet von originaler Musik

Der Akkordeonspieler Johnny Grande war ein Gründermitglied von Bill Haley und den Comets, wo er bei den folgenden Aufnahmen Akkordeon und Klavier spielte: „Shake, Rattle and Roll’, ‘See You Later, Alligator’ und wohl das meistbekannte ‘Rock Around the Clock’ die die Pop-Musik in den Mid-50iger Jahren total veränderten.
Johnny Grande wurde, italienischer Abstammung, in Südphiladelphia geboren und verdiente anfangs sein Brot als Kohlelastwagenfahrer und später als Detektivbürosekretär. In seiner Freizeit spielte er das Akkordeon mit Folk- oder Polkagruppen in der Pennsylvania's Sleepy Hollow Ranch. In den späteren vierziger Jahren vereinte er sich mit Bill Haley und den Four Aces of Western Swing doch bald umbenannt als Saddlemen.
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war Haley ein Country und Westernsänger. Anfang der frühen fünfziger Jahre begann die Aera des „Rock and Rolls“ '.
1954 hatten Bill Haley und die Comets eine kurze aber großartige Periode mit „meistverkauften Alben“. 1956 spielten Sie im Film ‘Rock Around the Clock’ in welchem Grande als Akkordeonspieler mitwirkte. Mit dem neuen Star Elvis Presley begann im Jahre 1956 das Licht von Bill Haley langsam zu erlòschen und 1962 verließ Grande die Band um Musik zu unterrichten. Später hatte er ein Restaurant. Ein Jahr nach dem Tod von Bill Haley (1981) wurde von Johnny Grande neuerlich die ‘Bill Haley’s Comets’ gegründet, mit der sie auf Touren gingen..
Zoran Kirjakovski Concert, Skopje - Macedonia Contributed by Anica Karakutovska
On May 23rd, at Salon 19.19 in Skopje, as part of a series of concerts named ‘Search for New Stars’, the Culture and Information Centre presented accordionist Zoran Kirjakovski and his guests.
Zoran Kirjakovski, a student at the Faculty of Music-Skopje, in the accordion class of Professor Zorica Karakutovska, is the winner of a several international and national prizes. Zoran's solo program included works by Scarlatti, Weber, Zubitski, Derbenko and Malih. His special quests on the concert were his friends the accordion trio Kirjakovski-Stamevski-Todorovski, winners of the national competition for chamber music in 2005. The chamber ensemble performed ‘Clowns’, by Elizabeta Ilievska, as the last work at the concert and this was extremely well received by the audience.
The chamber ensemble, directed by Professor Zorica Karakutovska, consisted of Zoran Kirjakovski - accordion, Vanco Arevski - flute, Sasko Temelkov - clarinet, Kliment Todorovski - violin, Ljupco Milevski - cello, Atanas Aleksov - xylophone, and Blagoja Antovski - vibraphone. For this work Elizabeta Ilievska had received an award in the second ‘Pre-art competition for young composers 2006’, held in Zurich, Switzerland. ‘Clowns’ will be performed by pre-art soloists and by the ensemble Sonemus during September and October in Zurich, Basel, Geneva, Sarajevo, Belgrade, Pristina and Skopje.

Castelfidardo - Thunder and lightning, but also...
showers and beautiful music. The second Springtime international
competition ‘Citta di Castelfidardo’
for accordion orchestras took place recently. The accordion
orchestra ‘Citta di Verona’ consisting of 20 players
and directed by Maestro Luciano Brutti, won Category B (orchestras
of medium level composed of young people or adults) with 18 marks
out of 20, having made a strong impression on the judges.
In Category A, for advanced level orchestras, who had to perform
a longer program (total 40 minutes), the Accordion Orquestra de
Sabadell, directed by Miguel Angel, (winner of the special AWW-Award)
was placed first with 18 marks, with against 17 marks
awarded to the 32 German players of the Harmonica-Orchester
of Uhingen. All placed orchestras have been awarded with trophies,
money scholarships and diplomas.

the jury has decided to assign two first prizes and a second was
not due to generosity, but was based on the artistic
qualities”. The jury: President Maestro Riccardo Serenelli,
originally from Castelfidardo, very active on an international
level as accordion orchestra director, particularly in classical
music; Maestro Ernesto Bellus, director of orchestras and founder
of the Rossini Academy of Belluno; Maestro Rinaldo Strappati, teacher
of brass at the conservatory Pergolesi di Fermo and teacher of advanced
level courses, and director of ensembles and orchestras; Maestro
Mirjana Petercol, Croatian by birth, concert artiste and accordion
teacher in Germany, and Paolo
Picchio, musicologist, publicist and composer. The next
event in Castelfidardo is planned for July 7th and 8th when the
international diatonic accordion festival will take place.

Mit brasilianischer Musik assoziiert man Bossa und Samba. Musik jedenfalls von jazzig-lyrischer Laszivität oder afrikanischer Perkussivität. Renato Borghetti indes kommt von einem anderen ethnomusikalischen Planeten: dem südbrasilianischen Rio Grande do Sul, der Heimat der Gauchos, der südamerikanischen Cowboys, die musikalisch mehr mit dem benachbarten Argentinien teilen und unverwechselbare Formen wie den Chamamé, den Chacarera oder die Milonga hervorgebracht haben. Renato Borghetti ist eines jener musikalischen Unikate, die lokale Traditionen mit der Muttermilch aufgesogen, individuell weiterentwickelt und mit weiteren Formen (wie Tango, Samba und Jazz) durchsetzt haben.
Renato Borghetti oder „Borghettinho“, wie ihn seine Fans liebevoll nennen, nimmt Platten seit Anfang der 80er Jahre auf, die erste seiner mittlerweile 19 CDs war auch die erste Instrumentalplatte Brasiliens, die je Gold gewann. Seine frontale, von Souveränität und Spielwitz geprägte Darbietung erinnert etwas an das Feeling des Cajun und Zydeco Louisianas, - und wie dort verbindet sich auch hier Europäisches mit Afrikanischem, konkret: spanisch-italienische Melodik mit afroamerikanischer Rhythmik. Trotz aller Experimente bleibt Borghetti durch und durch Gaucho, wie er durch sein Bühnenstyling - langes Haar, Schlapphut und weite Hosen - stolz betont.
Er stand bereits mit Grössen wie " Luís Gonzaga, " Hermeto Pascoal, Sivuca, Dominguinhos, Stephane Grapelli und Ron Carter auf der Bühne, und auch hierzulande haben seine Auftritte mittlerweile zu „Suchterscheinungen“ bei Publikum wie Veranstaltern geführt: Begeisterungsstürme anlässlich der Live-Auftritte bei Brasil 2000 im Wiener WUK und bei den Wiener Akkordeonfestivals 2002 und 2004 waren die Basis für erfolgreiche Tourneen und eine stetig wachsende Fangemeinde. So war es denn nur ein logischer Schritt, auch die erste Europa-CD in Österreich einzuspielen: „Gauchos“ wurde vom Wiener Label Quinton Records produziert, umgehend für den renommierten Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik nominiert und 2005 auf zahlreichen umjubelten Konzerten in ganz Europa präsentiert.

Festival – New Zealand

The 5th New Zealand Tango Festival takes place from June 29th to July 2nd, involving a range of dance tuition classes. The Funyi Tango Tro, from Argentina, featuring Norberto Vogel on bandoneon, will be performing throughout the festival. The trio have recently released a CD titled ‘Tangos paros Beunos Aires’, and are making their second visit to this festival.
KlezMORE Festival, Vienna - Austria

The annual KlezMORE Festival, an international klezmer music, song and dance event, takes place at various venues in Vienna from July 2nd to 16th. Most of the bands involved feature accordion, including the Klezmatics (USA), Duo Lerner Y Moguilevsky (Argentina), Pressburger Klezmer Band (Slovakia), Ensemble Klesmer Wien unplugged (Austria), Konsonans Retro (Moldova), Khupe Trio (Netherlands/Germany/UK), Budowitz (USA/Hungary), the Amsterdam Klezmer Band (Netherlands), and the Kohelet 3 (Germany/Austria).
