Der
italienische Akkordeonist Mauro Carra wird Großbritannien für
eine kurze Tour im Januar 2006 besuchen. Organisiert wurde dies von
Romano Viazzani. Mauro
Carra begann das Akkordeonspielen, als er 9 Jahre alt war. Unterrichtet
wurde er hierbei von Piero Barbieri und Learco Gianferrari. Bruno
Aragosti, Paolo Gandolfi, Renato Benelli, Gigi Stok, Carlo Venturi,
Frédéric
Deschamps, Renzo
Ruggeri und Richard Galliano haben alle Mauros Stil beeinflusst.
Bislang hat Mauro Carra fünf Alben gemacht, sein sechstes ist
in Arbeit.
Mauro hat
erfolgreich an vielen nationalen und internationalen Wettbeweben teilgenommen.
Bei der International Accordion Week, die in Stradella in Italien
im Jahre 2000 stattfand, trat er alleine in der Varietè Kategorie
auf. Im folgenden Jahr erreichte er große Erfolge bei The London
Accordion Festival, welches im Wembley Complex abgehalten wurde, als
Solist und danach mit dem BBC Concert Orchestra in einem speziellen
Galakonzert.
Im Jahre
2002 trat er mit dem Symphonic Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di
Bologna in einem Konzert auf, in welchem Stücke aus dem Film
von Charlie Chaplin gespielt wurden. Im gleichen Jahr wurde er auserwählt,
Italien beim World Accordion Wettbewerb, wo er den sechsten Platz
machte, zu repräsentieren. Mauro
Carras voller Terminplaner führte ihn durch ganz Italien, Frankreich,

3. November gab der amerikanische Akkordeonist Peter
Soave ein Konzert in der Konzerthalle des Konservatoriums in Hanoi.
Sein Programm beinhaltete Musik von Astor Piazzola und einige Stücke,
die er selbst improvisierte.
Durch den gewaltigen und raffinierten Musikgeschmack, durch seine
Virtuosität, seiner brillianten atemberaubenden Fähigkeiten,
beeindruckte Peter
Soave (mit dem Akkordeon und dem Bandoneon) das Publikum aus Hanoi.
Peter Soave hatte ein Treffen mit Lehrern und Schüler des Accordion
Department am Konservatorium in Hanoi.
Tod
von Pamela Deaking, Birmingham - Großbritannien
Die
Akkordeonlehrerin Pamela Deaking starb Ende November im Alter von
69 Jahren nach einem langen Kampf gegen Krebs. Pamela Deaking aus
Warley, Staffordshire, war eine der größten Wettbewerbsakkordeonisten
in den 50-er Jahren von England. Sie gewann drei All-Britain Championships
in Mitten von weiteren Titeln.
1950 begann sie, dass Akkordeon unter der Aufsicht von George Clay
zu erlernen. Ihr Fortschritt war sehr rasch und nach 3 Jahren war
sie ein nationaler Champion, der die All-Britain Amateur Championship
1953 und 1954 gewann. 1955 erreichte Pamela einen anerkennenswerten
8. Platz beim CIACoupe Mondiale,
der in Brighton stattgefunden hatte. Ihre größte Leistung
kam 1956, als sie die All-Britain Virtuoso Championship gewann.
Nach ihrer Wettbewerbskarriere wurde Pamela Deaking eine bekannte
und respektierte Akkordeonlehrerin in den Midlands.
Konzert
von Alexander Sklyarov, Astana - Kasachstan
Am
23. November fand in der Hauptstadt Kasachstans', Astana, ein brilliantes
Konzert, welches durch den Künstler Alexander Sklyarov gekennzeichnet
ist, statt. Das Konzert wurde in der neuen, kürzlich eröffneten
Organ Hall der National Academy of Music von Kasachstan ausgetragen.
Das Konzertprogramm beinhaltete Stücke von I. Muffat, B. Bend,
E. Derbenko, V. Chernikov und Alexander Timoshenko. Alexander Sklyarov
trug "3 Transcriptions of Russian National Songs" von Alexander
Timoshenko vor. Dies war dem Gedenken des Komponisten gewidmet.
Am Anfang
des Tages wurde eine Masterklasse von Sklyarov abgehalten. An ihr
nahmen Schüler der Academy of Music teil. Musiker aus anderen
Städten von Kasachstan reisten nach Astana um das Auftreten des
hervorragenden Künstlers zu sehen und zu hören. "Wir
hatten noch nie voher eine solche Performance", war das Kommentar,
das man nach dem Konzert überall hörte. Später erst
kommentierten Kritiker über seine ausgezeichnete Technik, seine
mächtige Dynamik und seinen großartigen Sound.

Canelo Concert Tour, Mexico City - Mexico Accordionist
Salomòn Cinnamon has completed a tour of Mexico, performing
concerts in Atargea, Villagrand, Acàmbaro, Irapuato, Comonfort,
Pènjamo, San Josè Iturbide, San Diego de la Uniòn,
San Felipe, Doctor Mora, Tierra Blanca, Dolores Hidalgo and Victoria.
The tour was organised by the Government's Institute of Culture.

Karen Street was the All Britain Virtuoso Champion in 1982 and 1983,
and a competitor in the 1984 CIACoupe Mondiale
held in Folkestone, England. She later performed on saxophone as a
member of the all female quartet the Fairer Sax, and now has returned
to the accordion, both as a player and a composer. In the near future
she is to record as a duo with accordionist Tony Compton.
Wartime
Singalongs, Stockport - UK Accordionists
Rob
Howard and John Jones lead singalongs of World War Two songs at
the Stockport Air Raid Shelters on December 5th, 8th and 15th, from
8.15pm. These shows are at the end of guided tours of the underground
shelters where in 1940 and 1941, up to 7,000 people spent the nights
to escape bombing raids. Accordionists were a regular and welcome
form of entertainment in the shelters, and the present day shows are
also proving popular with the public.
On
December 8th, diatonic button accordionist Joe Whelan, banjo player
Liam Farrell, and pianist Reg Hall will perform Irish music and songs
at the The Royal Oak Folk Club, Lewes, East Sussex. On January 5th,
button accordionist John Kirkpatrick will be the guest at the same
venue.

Accordion Orchestra Charity Concert, Macclesfield - UK

Stockport Accordion Orchestra, directed by Brian Jenkins, perform
at Henbury and Broken Cross Institute, Macclesfield on December 9th,
at 8pm. Proceeds from the concert are donated to the East Cheshire
Hospice.

Lunchtime Concert, London - UK On December 13th there will be a free lunchtime concert presented
by Accordions at Morley, from 1.05pm, at Morley College (close to
London's Waterloo Station).
Jimmy
Shand Memorial Concert, Fife - UK

The
annual Jimmy Shand Memorial Concert takes place on January 29th, from
1.30 to 5pm, at St Andrew's Town Hall, Fife, Scotland. This popular
event involves at least 26 guest accordionists, and all the music
performed is either composed by Sir Jimmy Shand, or has been recorded
by him. The concert will end with all the players in an ensemble,
playing 'The Bluebell Polka', 'Whistling Rufus', The Six Twenty Two
Step', and other numbers made famous by Jimmy Shand and his Band.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to Chas (a charity for
terminally ill children) and Rymonth House, which caters for people
with learning disabilities.
Sir Jimmy Shand (1908-2001), the only accordionist to date to receive
a Knighthood by HM Queen Elizabeth, was a highly prolific recording
artiste and composer, with a career that lasted over sixty years.
His influence on Scottish music and dancing was profound, inspiring
countless numbers of people to play and listen to accordions. In recent
years, many Shand recordings have been issued on digitally remastered
CDs, including material that covers the 1930s until recent times.
