58. Coupe Mondiale, Castelo Branco - Portugal Die Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) feierte ihren 70. Geburtstag in Castelo Branco, Portugal. Das Treffen fand aufgrund ihrer 114. Generalversammlung der Abgeordneten und des 58. Coupe Mondiale's statt. Organisiert wurde die Veranstaltung vom CIA Mitglied Carlos Semedo und unterstützt durch das Conservatório Regional de Castelo Branco, lockte der 58. Coupe Mondiale Menschen aus Australien, Neuseeland, Russland, Skandinavien und vielen anderen Ländern der EU an. Drei zusätzliche Preise wurden angeboten; zwei Konzerttouren und eine CD- Produktion. Von den Reisen ging eine nach Neuseeland (diese wurde von der Akkordeonvereinigung aus Neuseeland angeboten) und eine Tour in die Slowakei, Ungarn und die Tschechische Republik (diese wurde vom Methodical Centre of Accordion "Marta Szokeová" (MCA) angeboten. Die Aufnahme der CD wurde von der Intermusik angeboten. Der Empfänger aller drei Preise war der Gewinner des Internationalen Wettbewerbes für Tastenakkordeon, Alexander Shirunov. Beim einem Teil des Coupe Mondiales mussten die Wettbewerber die neue Arbeit "O Medo do Ritmo" des portugiesischen Komponist Carlos Marecos aufführen. Herr Mareco war eines der Jurymitglieder in diesem Teil des Wettbewerbs und war sehr beeindruckt von den Vorführungen. An der Zeremonie des Awards bekamen die Kandidaten Diplome, Preise, Geld und Trophäen in jeder Kategorie. Ebenfalls bekamen die Mitglieder der internationalen Jury, der internationalen Abgeordneten und Gäste, verschiedene Diplome, die die Teilnahme am Coupe Mondiale 2005 bestätigen. Am Abschlusskonzert traten alle Gewinner des Coupe Mondiale 2005 sowie der ehrenamtliche Vizepräsident Paolo Ferreira nochmals auf. Paolo Ferreira spielte seine Eigenkomposition "Improvisata" mit dem String Orchestra Esart Ensemble, welches von Cesario Costa geleitet wird, und mit der bekannten Gruppe Lusotango vor. Die Gewinner des Coupe Mondiale 2005 war Rade Miljatovic aus Serbien und Montenegro. Als Schüler von Miljan Bjetelic gewann Rade früher Junior Coupe Mondiale. Wichtiger Erfolg für italienische Akkordeons in Shanghai Die Musik China in Shanghai war ein großer Erfolg beteiligte die Teilnehmer von verschiedenen italienischen Firmen. Es gab circa 40 000 Besucher und 900 Aussteller aus der ganzen Welt, die Musikprodukte vorstellten. Die italienischen Gebiete Ancona und Macerata lieferten Akkordeons, Saxophone und Zubehör in großen Mengen. Die Veranstaltung beinhaltete ein Konzert des Internationalen Orchesters aus Italien. Die Leitung des Orchesters hat Antonio Cipriani. Solisten auf dem Akkordeon, Bandoneon und Saxophon waren Pascal Contet, Fulvio Falleri, Peter Soave und Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi. Dieses Konzert fand im Theater von Shanghai statt und es hatte 1500 Besucher. Viele Privatstunden wurden von den Künstlern während der folgenden Tage im Konservatorium von Shanghai gegeben. Am Konzert war ebenfalls der italienische Konsul, der Direktor des ICE, anwesend. Am Ancona Promuove Stand wurden folgende italienische Firmen präsentiert: Ballone Burini/Bugari Armando/Nello, Mengascini/Pigini/Cagnoni, Voci/Orfeo Borgani und Fratelli GVG.

Akkordion Open Day, Aberdeen - Großbritannien Das vor langem gegründete, von einer Familie geleitete Musikgeschäft, Bruce Millers, Union Street, Aberdeen, Schottland, macht am 10. November von 10.00 bis 18.00 Uhr einen Tag der offenen Tür. Im Shop sind viele Akkordeonmarken erhältlich. Jon Hammond erscheint als CNN Gastmoderator Der Akkordeonist und Organist Jon Hammond war ein Gastmoderator für CNN bei einem großen Event im Golden Gate Park im Speedway Meadows in San Francisco. Das Event war eine Gedenkveranstaltung für Chet Helmes; den Rockpromoter der Janis Joplin in den 60-er Jahren nach San Francisco brachte. Zusätzlich präsentierte er während den Jahren hunderte von Shows mit großen Bands, einschließlich Quicksilver Messenger Service, Blue Cheer, Cold Blood, Dan Hicks & the Hotlicks, Charlatans, Sons of Champin, Moby Grape, Country Joe & the Fish, Jefferson Airplane und viele mehr. Quartet Concert with Accordion at Biarritz Forum, Bogota - Columbia Contributed by Rob Howard The 6th International Forum of Biarritz, Bogota, celebrated in October, was attended by mayors of various European cities, among them that of the French city of Biarritz. The Quartet New World, whose members are Felipe Liano (flute), Francisco Rivera (clarinet), Ever Barbosa (Bassoon), and the Colombian accordionist Lácides Romero, offered a Concert of Welcome for the 300 guests at the forum, in a formal dinner, offered by the Mayor of Bogota, Luis Waiter, in the National Museum. The Quartet performed Swedish, French, Cuban and Colombian music.

Orkestar Bez Ime Dance Party, Minneapolis - USA Contributed by Rob Howard Orkestar Bez Ime play for a dance at the California Building Gallery, 2205 California St NE, Minneapolis on November 5th, at 9pm. Orkestar Bez Ime (OBI), meaning "orchestra without a name" in Bulgarian, has grown to be the Midwest's most popular international dance bands, specializing in Balkan and eastern European dance music. OBI's line up includes accordionist Dee Langley, Colleen Bertsch (violin), Katrina Mundinger (clarinet), Natalie Nowytski (vocals and percussion) and Tim Wahl (kaval, tambura, kitchen sink). Gus Viseur Special Tribute Concert, Paris - France Contributed by Rob Howard A special musette and jazz accordion tribute concert to the memory of Gus Viseur takes place on November 7th, 9pm, at The Archipelago, 17 boulevard Strasbourg, 75010 Paris. Musicians participating in the concert include Marcel Azzola (accordion), Daniel Colin (accordion, bandoneon), Jean Corti (accordion), Dominique Cravic (vocals, guitar), Armand Lassagne (accordion) and Jean-Philippe Viret (double-bass). The occasion marks the re-issue of the classic recording 'Gus Viseur à Bruxelles' on CD. Gus Viseur (1916-1974) was one of the musette players most closely associated with jazz guitarists such as Django Reinhardt and the brothers Matio, Baro and Challain Ferret. Viseur's jazz and swing style of musette anticipated the later development of jazz on the accordion. For some years, in the late 1930s and early 40s, Viseur accompanied Edith Piaf on stage and on records, including her first recording of L'Accordeonist. The compositions of Gus Viseur include Soir de Dispute, Flambée Montalbanaise, Matelotte, Jeannette and Swing Valse.

Fintan Stanley Concerts, Maine - USA Contributed by Rob Howard Boston-based Irish accordionist Fintan Stanley appears in concert at Cape Cod Irish Village, 512 Main Street, West Yarmouth, on November 11th and 12th, and also on December 30th and 31st. Born in County Louth in 1941, in 1955 Fintan Stanley was the first player to become an All-Ireland Champion using a Continental button accordion. He immigrated to the USA in the 1970s, and has since performed in many European countries and Australia.

Lisa-Lee Leslie Concert, Stockport - UK Contributed by Rob Howard On November 22nd, Lisa-Lee Leslie is the Club Night guest at Stockport Accordion Club. Lisa plays the Continental button accordion, and uses two instruments - straight and musette tuned. The concert begins at 8pm, and the venue is the St John Ambulance Brigade HQ, Edgeley Road, Cheadle Heath, Stockport, close to Junctions 1 or 2 on the M60. Noted University of Limerick Professor, composer, and musician Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin praised Keane as the "savior of the piano accordion."
