Danksagung
für das Leben von Myron
Floren - USA

 Eine
gefühlvolle Gedenkfeier "In loving remembrance of Myron
Floren" fand am 6. August in der Ascension Lutheran Kirche
in Rancho Palos Verdes, Kalifornien, in der die Familie seit den
60-er Jahren betet, statt. Myron starb am 23. Juli 2005 im Jahre
von 85 Jahren in seiner Heimat.
Ein fast
lebensgroßes Bild von Myron, auf dem ein jugendliches Grinsen
in seinem Gesicht war und er sein Akkordeon in seinen Armen hält
und auf dem er seine Familie und Freunde, die sich für diese
letzte Abschiedsfeier versammelt hatten, stand neben dem Pult. Rev.
Dr. Jan L. Womer erinnerte an eine Stelle aus der biblischen Schrift
"make a joyful noise unto the Lord" und teilte den Anteilnehmenden
mit, dass dies das Lebenswerk von Myron gewesen sei.
Myron
selbst lieferte die Musik für die Gedenkfeier von hunderten
von Titeln, die er während der Jahre aufgenommen hatte: Fughetta,
Sentimental Journey, How Great Thou Art, The Lost Chord, und Battle
Hymn of the Republic. Rev. Womer sprach über Myron's Lebenszeit,
die er mit erfreuendem Publikum verbrachte. "We shall not look
upon his like again".

50.
jährlich stattfindendes Musikfestival der AFNA - USA
 Die
Akkordeonvereinigung von Nordamerika wird sein 50. jährlich
stattfindendes Musikfestival vom 12. bis zum 14. August in Los Angeles
abhalten. Spezielle Veranstaltungen beinhalten ein Bankett- Treffen
am Freitag für alle ehemaligen und jetzige Könige &
Königinnen für Akkordeon und Klavier.
Die Jazzgröße
Frank Marocco wird am Sonntag im Sheraton Gateway Hotel ein Musikseminar
anbieten, LAX in Verbindung mit dem 50. jährlich stattfindenden
AFNA Musikfestival. Das Seminar ist so geplant, dass es am Ende
noch eine Frage- und Antwortrunde enthält. Die seltene Möglichkeit,
Mr. Marocco alles was mit Musik in Hollywood Filmen, Shows und Werbungen
etc. zu tun hat, kann man sich zu Nutze machen… Herauszufinden,
was man dazu braucht, wie man damit beginnt und vieles mehr!
Das Festival
wird mit einem Konzert, an dem Gewinner und Akkordeongruppen teilnehmen
werden, am Sonntagmittag enden.

New
Accordion Record in St. John's - Canada
 On
Saturday 6th August, there was a new world record set, for the largest crowd
to all play the accordion. Organizers, who needed 645 people to set the
record, said 989 participants officially signed registration forms. The
results will now be submitted to the Guinness World Records book. The previous
record was set in July this year by 644 players Kimberley at the International
Oldtime Accordion Championships.
Dubbed the "Accordion
Revolution," the St Johns event drew participants from beyond Newfoundland
and Labrador, including other provinces and the USA. The campaign became
something of a summer phenomenon, with many people who had never even touched
an accordion signing up to get involved.
 The
"Accordion Revolution" drew players of all ages and talent levels,
from seasoned professionals to absolute amateurs, armed with accordions,
concertinas and hand-me-down squeezeboxes. Starting as a slow waltz, the
players picked up tempo, as thousands of onlookers clapped in time.  Saturday's
event attracted scores of children, teenagers and young adults.
Organizer Dave
Penny said the biggest problem wasn't getting the musicians together. "We
were all in different keys, and we had to get everyone in the same key,"
he told reporters. Penny admitted the whole thing started off as a bit of
a joke to promote the festival, which became a tremendously successful promotion
of the accordion.

about their stolen accordion. It does not matter if the accordion
was stolen some years ago. If it is listed here, there is a greater
chance that one day your accordion will be found again.

A
New Type of 'Accordion' - Israel

 Ever
heard of 'Accordion Pill'? Finding ways to release drugs slowly is
a major target of pharmaceutical companies. A Jerusalem startup, Intec
Pharma, has developed an 'Accordion Pill' which looks like a conventional
capsule, but once inside the stomach it unfolds like an accordion
and positions itself as a controlled-release platform.
This new
technology will allow drugs to be taken once a day instead of as many
as five times and retains the active ingredients in the stomach for
up to 24 hours, compared to the normal three hours. By the end of
a day, the small accordion structure biodegrades and passes through
the system. One day 'accordion pill' might be a household word.

year, renowned accordionists captivate, amaze and fill with wonder
an enthusiastic audience by delivering performances that rival each

join the quadrilles, waltzes and contredanses in the soirées

a program that explores the many-faceted aspects of this instrument.

The
second Beogradski Tango Festival (International Belgrade Tango Festival
2005) will take place in Belgrade from the 8th to the 11th September.
Featured are dancers from Argentina, Japan, Hungary, Slovenia, Bulgaria
and other countries dancing. Also featured is the quintet Beltango
of Serbia with Aleksandar Nikolic playing bandoneon and accordion.
