Harmonikafestival 2005, Trossingen - Deutschland
 Harmonikafans
passt auf! Bald ist es wieder so weit. Das Weltharmonikafestival, welches
alle 4 Jahre stattfindet, wird in Trossingen/Schwarzwald, vom 2. bis zum
6. November 2005 abgehalten. Organisiert wird der Event von der Fédération
Internationale de l' Harmonica (FIH).
Abgesehen von
Konzerten und Seminaren, wird das Festival auch Wettbewerbe und eine Auswahl
an Meisterklassen anbieten. Ein ausgedehntes Workshop- Programm wird alle
Aspekte des modernen Harmonikaspielens abdecken. Wie in der Vergangenheit
wird diese Veranstaltung viele verschiedene Harmonika- und Musikstile darstellen.
Eine weiterer Höhepunkt ist die legendäre "Late Night Session",
die jedem die Möglichkeit anbietet, mit den Profis auf der Bühne
zu musizieren und nicht zuletzt die Möglichkeit bietet, mit alten und
neuen Freunden dieses gigantische Festival zu feiern.

Koda
Return To "T In The Park" Festival - Scotland

 KODA
were invited again this year to perform at Scotland's biggest Music Festival
"T in the Park" held in Balado near Kinross.
Band member Keith Dickson writes: "Once again, the sun was shining,
with several members of KODA travelling on Saturday to experience great
bands such as Keane, Embrace, the Killers and the Foo Fighters. However,
it was our performance in the Ceilidh Tent on Sunday that we were most looking
forward to.
Sunday was a fantastic day; the sun was again glorious, with some people
getting a bit too much of it! The crowds were enormous with the Main Stage
and the NME Stage packed out with big names such as Green Day, Razorlight,
Travis and Athlete really enjoying playing their recent hits to the lively
Scottish audience.
 Situated
between these stages was the Ceilidh Tent where KODA were performing. We
attracted a large and passionate crowd, performing a wide selection of old
favorites and new tracks such as Blair's 21st, Alternative Frequency and
Jock the Box.
KODA's version of Dignity and Loch Lomond had the crowd singing, waving
flags and sitting on each others shoulders, much to the security guards
displeasure!All the band had such a brilliant time with some members signing
autographs (some in strange places!) and receiving tremendous encouragement
from this great festival audience."

Buckwheat
Zydeco new CD, appears in Kansas City - USA
 Buckwheat
Zydeco, is back with their first CD in eight years and were appearing
in Kansas City on August 3 at Knuckleheads. The album, titled Jackpot!,
combines soulful original tunes, inspired playing and singing, and
the trademark exuberance that's made Buckwheat Zydeco one of the best-loved
zydeco artists. There is a string of great new songs showcasing Grammy
nominee and Emmy winner Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural Jr. and
his long-time touring band.
"It
was great to get back in the studio with a batch of new song ideas
and my band," Dural notes. The record is Dural's third on his
own Tomorrow Recordings label, which is distributed by Alternative
Distribution Alliance.

Dartmoor
Folk Festival, Devon - UK

The
28th Dartmoor Folk Festival takes place from August 5th to 7th. The
guests include accordionists John Kirkpatrick and Chris Parkinson,
known as the 'Sultans of Squeeze'. Other acts include The Posh Band
(featuring Simon Ritchie on melodeon and harmonica), Mawkin (with
Alex Goldsmith on melodeon), The Dartmoor Pixie Band, whose members
include Mark Bazeley on diatonic accordion and Jason Rice on piano
accordion.

Argentine
Chango Spasiuk at Womad Rivermead Festival - UK
 One
of the stars at Womad Rivermead Festival in Reading, 29-31 July was
Argentinian accordionist Chango Spasiuk. A dashing figure with flashing
eyes and a long red-gold mane, the 36-year-old accordion virtuoso
is the musical figurehead of Argentina's Misiones province.
It's a place where life, culture and even music have been moulded
by back-breaking agricultural labour - cultivating the leaves for
the national beverage mate. 'Imagine a pot that's been bubbling for
400 years," says Chango Spasiuk, "with different musical
influences being thrown in - African, baroque, Indian, Eastern European
- but everything going on simmering together. That's the way music
has developed in the tierra colorada - the red land." Certainly
the musical style of popular accordionist Chango Spasiuk has traveled
far beyond the shores of Argentina.

Letzten
Monat gaben der Akkordeonist Làcides Romero und die Cembalospielerin
Liliana Hernàndez im Kulturzentrum der Universidad Pedagógica
Nacional in Bogotà in Kolumbien, ein Duettkonzert. Während
des ersten Teils des Konzertes führten sie verschiedene Barockstücke
vor, wie zum Beispiel das Händel Concert in FM Op. 4#5. 
Diese
vor kurzem in der Sunday Times (Groß Britannien) erschienene
Schlagzeile ist überhaupt nicht über das Akkordeon, sondern
über ein Pferd namens "Accordion Etoile", welches
Paul Nolan gehört und durch häufige Pferderennerfolge
beachtliche Werbung empfangen hatte.
Accordionist
Jim Coogan had several accordions on the porch of the Weldon House,
East Durham, NY during Catskills Irish Arts week. On the 14th July,
Jim was approached by a man who said he was a friend of a friend
and that he wanted to try out a new Burke whistle with a Castagnari
accordion. 
The
musical titled "Hohner Das Musical" will appear at the
Konzerthaus Trossingen from the 25 to 31 December 2005. Trossingen
